About

My name is Michael McAdams and I have been taking photos for almost 10 years. My passion began with street photography. There’s just something about the spontaneity and unpredictable nature of shooting on the street that continues to inspire me to this day. I also fell in love with portraiture in general. Humans are always surprising me and continue to provide fresh material.

I have since branched out to landscape, city scenes, architecture, nature and anything random that catches my attention. I always try and find the perfect shot as opposed to shooting everything. I spend a lot of time curating and editing my photos and only choosing the most unique that are worthy of publishing. I am a firm believer that it is not just the quality of the photo, but the unique perspective, the details, the style, and the context of the scene being captured.

This site contains most of the photos that I have taken over the years. Well, at least those not lost moving from iPhoto to Aperture, then to Lightroom 4, 5, and finally the latest Lightroom 5 CC (which I am not crazy about). Some are old and could use some work but they are representative of where my skills were at the time and therefore thought it would be appropriate to include them.

My projects on the homepage have been broken down into general areas:

  • Charleston - my hometown and always adding to this page

  • Street Photography

  • Family

  • Portraits

  • Nature

  • Random (architecture, pets, general street scenes, and everything does not neatly fit into my other project pages)

  • iPhone photos (for the fun of it)

  • Wedding (I did one - thanks sis!)

In addition, I included a link to my wedding because the photos are awesome (not mine!). I also included a page that links to some of my other sites under “Social Media”.

Finally, i have a separate page for “recents”. I like to take at least one new photo a week and I leave these in recents for 30-45 days before moving them to other collections.

I look to capture the most unique and memorable moments in life as opposed to shooting hundreds of photos and dumping off a flash drive that will never be looked at again. If I don’t like a photo I do not hesitate to dump it. Even if this means coming back from vacation or from an event with 3-4 keepable shots. All I need is one and I am happy.

I hope you enjoy my collections. Please reach out on the contact page if you are interested in any prints or services.

Michael
